Make Your Christmas Wish List

It’s October, and for me, just a short wait till my favorite time of the year – Christmas!

This will be our 2nd year of using wishlist.com to share my kids’ wish lists to relatives and friends.  Using (and sharing) wishlist.com is great because:

1) listing down what we want helps to get the eagerness/anxiety out of us (great for my 5-year-old)

2) it gives potential gift-givers (godparents, uncles, aunts, close friends) ideas on what the kids would like to receive, and hopefully makes the gift shopping a bit easier

3) wishlist.com is flexible enough to allow us to add wishes from their affiliated or preferred retailers OR from any website we choose OR to simply write our wishes down without any website links

Caveat:  When I introduced wishlist.com to my 5-year-old, he got so excited about listing down anything and everything he wanted to receive for Christmas.  He thought that as long as it was in the list, he would receive it.  I had to explain to him that this wish list is for giving his grandparents, aunts, uncles, godparents and friends an idea of what he would want to receive.  It would still be up to them to choose their presents for him, and I made it very clear to him that he will probably not get all of the items in his list.  Still, he likes listing down his wishes (so he can forget about them once he’s listed them down) and to date he has maybe 100+ items!  (I told him that Santa Claus might get confused choosing what to give him because he has such a looooong list! He believes Santa will manage fine.)

We update our wish lists throughout the year.  When I review my kids’ lists before sharing them, I try to ensure that there are choices for every budget (again, to make it easier for potential gift-givers).  I appreciate it when I have ideas of what my nieces, nephews, friends, etc. would want to receive.  Who wouldn’t want their gifts to be appreciated?  And who wouldn’t want to make their gift shopping easier?

BTW, one of the best things about wishlist.com is that it’s free!
