Eggshell Mosaics

After seeing the Pompeii exhibit (Pompeii: Lfe in a Roman Town 79CE) in the National Museum of Singapore last January,  I asked my kids to make their own mosaics, just like the ancient Romans did.  Not exactly like they did, of course.  Instead of using stone or glass, they used colored eggshells.

Using instructions from activityvillage.co.uk, we colored the eggshells using food coloring.  Then, we printed coloring pages of choice.  Rafa chose to make a Sonic mosaic; Kylie chose to make one with a rose design.  These eggshell mosaics did require a good amount of time and effort from my kids.  But we’re all quite happy with the results 🙂
