Postcard #13: Walking Around Market Street, San Francisco

Dear Matty,

Yesterday, while K & R stayed with their cousins, Papa & I spent a lovely afternoon walking around the Market Street area of San Francisco.

We started with our favorite – the Ferry Building. We had delicious burgers for lunch at Gott’s Roadside, then Papa bought cheese from his beloved Cowgirl Creamery (good cheese and great service!).

Then we walked along Market Street till we arrived at my beloved See’s Candies (we handpicked some chocolates to buy, and got yummy free samples too!).

As we walked on, we overheard a happy conversation between a shoe shiner and his customer (how cool is that?). Then we passed by a familiar and nostalgic scene by the Mechanics Monument of bikers and businessmen resting by the statue, and pigeons cleaning up leftovers.

Our last stop was a visit to Alexander Books Co. on 2nd Street. It’s fun to browse independent bookstores like this because I’m hoping to either get a good deal, or find a rare title, or both 🙂

It’s been three years since our first visit to San Francisco, and I can still see how some people could have left their hearts there 🙂 Till we come back again…

Love, Mommy
